Description

Kingdoms is a two-player abstract strategy game where each player commands a rival kingdom fighting for dominance on a shared board. Players place counters to surround, capture, and flip enemy forces, steadily expanding their influence while pushing toward the ultimate goal: laying siege to the opposing castle. Victory is not instant — a castle must be held under siege for a full round, creating tense endgames where momentum, positioning, and nerve all matter.

On each turn, players either make a standard placement move or play a powerful card that can alter the flow of the battle. Cards allow for bold tactical plays: sudden reinforcements, flanking maneuvers, sabotage, espionage, or denying the opponent their turn entirely. Special response cards introduce bluffing and counterplay, as players can interrupt an opponent’s plans at exactly the wrong moment — if they dare.

Designed as a print-and-play tabletop game and developed in parallel with a future digital version, Kingdoms is intentionally clean, fast to learn, and rich in emergent strategy. It rewards foresight over memorisation, and careful pressure over brute force. This is a game for players who enjoy abstract strategy, positional play, and the thrill of turning a losing position into a sudden victory.
